An avid Superman fan has taken his obsession with everyone’s favorite superhero to the next level. Herbert Chaves, aged 35, originally from the Philippines, has undergone 19 surgeries at a cost of over $7,000. This is so that he can look exactly like his childhood idol. Chavez, who fell in love with Superman at the tender age of five, has had nose jobs, jaw realignment, liposuction, pec implants and even skin lightening to achieve the perfect, authentic Clark Kent look. And one has to say, he looks pretty good and certainly a lot younger than 35. You may think that the price for all that surgery is a bargain at just $7,000, but not if you consider that the average hourly wage in the Philippines is just $1.50. Chavez, of course, is a bit of an exhibitionist and regularly takes to the streets around his home, in one of his specially tailored Superman outfits, hair gelled and muscles bulging. He gets a lot of attention from kids on the street and tries to teach them life lessons about morality and staying out of trouble. The Superman fan spoke to reporters about his experience with looking so similar to his idol:
